The House:
Notes that the above named road, network which were initially designed for restricted access now serve the dual purposes of being both interstate and township roads;
Aware that the dual functions the now perform have culminated in their deterioration as they were not originally meant to have intersections, subways and bus stops which have been resulting in accidents with fatalities;
Also aware of the busy nature of the roads which causes heavy gridlock, thus making commuters spent countless hours on the road with attendant hardship and frustration;
Concerned about the dilapidated, dysfunctional, and unaesthetic appearances of the Roads and believes that only the expansion and upgrade of the Roads will solve these perennial problems confronting commuters;
RESOLVES TO:
(i) Urge the Federal Ministry of Works, Power and Housing to as a matter of expediency, commence actions on the redesign and reconstruction of both Iwo Road - Asejire end of Ibadan - Ife Expressway and Ojoo - Iwo Road - Toll Gate (Ibadan) end of Ibadan - Lagos Expressway with a view to upgrading and expanding them from the present 4 Lane Highway to a combination of 6 Lane Highway and 4 Lane Service Road;
(ii) Also urge the Federal Road Maintenance Agency to urgently rehabilitate all existing facilities of the roads, including the ancillary connections in order to ameliorate the sufferings of commuters;

Hon.(Engr.) Taiwo Michael Akintola 365 days in office
Hon.
(Engr.) Taiwo Michael Akintola MNSE, MHR assumed office as honourable
of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on 9th June 2015 representing
Egbeda/Ona ara Federal Constituency.
Having resumed and settled down, Hon. (Engr.) Taiwo Michael Akintola MNSE, MHR swung into action in fulfilment of the promises he made to the good and wonderful people of his constituency in bringing dividend of democracy back to them and also giving the constituency quality representation on the floor of the House.
Hon. Taiwo Michael Akintola MNSE, MHR did a tremendous job on the floor of the House in making sure that bills and petitions were presented to the honourable members in the hallow chamber and resolved, few among the lists are:
Hon. (Engr.) Taiwo Michael Akintola MNSE, MHR during the sitting in Nov. 2015 on the floor of the house presented :
"URGENT NEED FOR THE REHABILITATION OF BEERE-OLORUNSOGO-AKANRAN-DAGBOLU-IJEBU IGBO ROAD IN OYO STATE" on the floor of the house.
He notes the deplorable state of Beere-Olorunsogo-Akanran-Dagbolu-Ijebu lgbo road which is filled with craters that are making the road impassable; he also notes that this condition was occasioned by years of failure to maintain the road, which led to its degeneration to its present state which is hindering access to the neighbouring communities, especially during harvest and rainy seasons;
he was concerned that the numerous potholes and craters on the road have caused accidents that have claimed many lives and have also encouraged the activities of marauders who take advantage of the bad road to rob and maim commuters.
After all said and done, the house resolves to:
(1) Urge the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to, as a matter of urgency, embark on sectional and spot rehabilitation on the road as a palliative measure, pending its reconstruction; and
(2) mandate the Committee on Works to ascertain the extent of failure of the road for the purpose of appropriating funds for the rehabilitation of Beere-Olorunsogo-Akanran-Dagbolu-Ijebu Igbo Road in the 2016 Appropriation proposal and report back to the House within eight (8) weeks.
Again our distinguished honourable, Hon. (Engr.) Taiwo Michael Akintola MNSE, MHR during the sitting in Dec. 2015 on the floor of the house presented :
Mr Enoch O. Oyeniyi's PETITION ON WRONGFUL COMPULSORY RETIREMENT FROM THE SERVICES OF CENTRE FOR MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT (CMD) AND REFUSAL OF DR. MAIYAKI AND DR. KABIRU KABO USMAN TO IMPLEMENT THE DECISION OF THE FEDERAL MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND PRODUCTIVITY DATED 15th April 2008 AND THE AWARD (JUDGEMENT) OF THE INDUSTRIAL ARBITATION PANEL (I.A.P) DATED 21st FEBRUARY 2011, AND OTHER RELEVANT DOCUMENTS IN DETAILS.
Also Hon. (Engr.) Taiwo Michael Akintola MNSE, MHR during the sitting in March 2016, on the floor of the House of Representatives moved a motion passed by the House on
"NEED FOR THE IBADAN DRY PORT TO COMMENCE OPERATION TO SAVE IT FROM GOING MORIBUND".
The House:
Notes that in 2006, the Federal Government approved the setting up of five Inland Container Depots (ICDs) and three Container Freight Stations (CFS) and while the ICDs were located in Oyo, Abia, Plateau, Bauchi and Kano States, the three Container Freight Stations were sited in Katsina, Borno and Gombe States;
Also notes that the Oyo State Government, with 35% stake in Catamaran Logistics Limited, the concessionaires of Ibadan Dry Port, had earlier sought and obtained approval for redesignation of the ICD status in Ibadan to Inland Dry Port (IDP);
Aware that the IDP as against ICD, has status of Port of origin and destination, so that it can serve consigned cargoes;
Also aware that commencement of operations by Ibadan Dry Port would boost the revenue of surrounding States attract Investors, improve economic activities of the people and create employment for the Youth;
Worried that despite the heavy financial Investment in the Project since 2006 and completion of all Infrastructure since 2014 for its takeoff, the Project is still not operational;
Also worried that the Infrastructure in place, like roads, Office Buildings and Equipment are either deteriorating or liable to vandalization, if the Project is allowed to remain idle;
RESOLVES TO:
1. Mandate the Committees on Ports, Harbours and Waterways, and Industry to liaise with Officials of the Ministries of Commerce and Industry with a view to determine the current status of the Project and facilitate its commencement of operations and report to the House within four weeks; and
2. Urge the Inspector General of Police to, in the interim, provide adequate security for the Buildings and other Infrastructure in the Ibadan Dry Port, Erunmu, Egbeda Locyal Government Area of Oyo State to prevent their vandalization pending its Inauguration.
Hon. (Engr.) Taiwo Michael Akintola MNSE, MHR gave back to his constituency numerous projects, empowerment of traders and artisans, empowerment of women, free Jamb forms and cash award for the students, free summer coaching and payment of WAEC fees, ICT centres with solar power system, deep well for the rural communities, electrification project in some communities, first hon. to give N5000.00 promised by APC led government during electioneering campaign to the youth in the constituency among others. Oyo picks Feb 12 for Olubadan’s burial, Buhari mourns
President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday commiserated with the people of Ibadan and the Oyo State Government on the death of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade 1.
He said the monarch’s death was a great loss not only to the people of Ibadan, but also the entire country.
Buhari, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said Odulana’s rich and wise counsel would be missed.
The President also extended condolences to the family of the late monarch.
He described the deceased as a patriot, promoter of peace, unity and champion of the wellbeing of his subjects.
“Nigeria needs the wisdom of such senior citizens and their wealth of experience and moral standards, especially at a time that we want to change the orientation and ethical values of our people to place higher priority on hard work, discipline, honesty, accountability and transparency.” Buhari said.
He urged mourners to take solace in the fact that Oba Odulana Odugade lived well and left behind remarkable imprints for his successor and admirers to emulate.
The President also prayed God to grant the soul of the late monarch a peaceful rest.
Meanwhile, the Oyo State Government has announced February 12, 2016 for the burial of the late monarch.
Oba Odugade died on Tuesday at the age of 101.
The state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, said during his visit to the Monatan palace of the late monarch on Friday that a burial committee that would include the family of the deceased and the Olubadan-in-Council would be constituted and that burial ceremony would begin on February 6.
Ajimobi was received into the palace by the Olubadan-in-Council, widow of the late Oba, Olori Morike, his first son, Prof. Femi Lana, and some Ibadan elders.
The governor said the ceremony would end on February 12 when the body of the late Oba would be committed to mother earth.
Ajimobi recalled that the late monarch contributed to his emergence as the governor and that he would be remembered for his love and passion for Ibadan as well as his glowing legacy.
He also described the late monarch as a patriot, who had contributed immensely to the development of Nigeria, urging those in position of authority to emulate the lifestyle of the late monarch.
The governor said, “He was a good father to all of us. We are happy and sad at the same time. We are happy that he grew old and lived a fruitful life. Olubadan was a disciplinarian and was orderly in his endeavours. He was elegant and he had integrity. Oba Odugade was very predictable and I wish he will be the type we will be having on this throne.
“He had a mind and heart of assessing people’s credibility. Olubadan was an accomplished human being by all standards. Even if it is about his age, he was fulfilled and contented with all he had. He was an epitome of patriotism, who was passionate about the progress of Ibadan.”
Also, the Bishop of Sword of the Spirit Ministries, Wale Oke, hailed the deceased’s virtues.
According to him, the late Odugade steered the ship of the Ibadan kingdom in a way that touched the lives of many people and impacted positively upon humanity.
Bishop Oke said the Olubadan lived for the good of all and the peace and progress of his people.
